Paris Moving Coil Head Amplifier

The Paris Moving Coil headamp is a compact battery powered, dual channel headamp for remote mounting in or near a turntable for low output moving coil cartridges.

It will accept cartridges with output as low as 0.15mV/cm/sec up to 1mV/cm/sec. Specialised jfet and bipolar devices are used throughout, and output is ground referenced for ultra low noise. A quality coupling cap is used for the output connection to a moving magnet RIAA equalised preamplifier, with which it MUST be used.

The Paris can be configured for any cartridge impedance (specify when ordering), and is powered from a sealed lead acid battery (not supplied, current draw is 35mA). A 4AH battery is ideal and will run for more than 20 hours before trickle charge for topup.

This headamp is far cheaper than a quality transformer, and more resolving. Due to clever design it is extremely quiet (-140dBA!!), and with single ended Class A circuitry throughout delivers a wonderful, musical sound from the best MC cartridges in the high end market.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Frequency Response:	-1dB points at 25Hz and 210KHz.
Harmonic Distortion:	Not exceeding 60dB below (0.1%) at any frequency to 20KHz for output up to 200mV into 47K. Distortion profile is essentially second and third harmonic, both 'musical'.
Topology:	Single ended JFET/Bipolar cascode, zero feedback. Powered through a current source and reflexively loaded to ground for ultimate low noise.
Quiescent Current:	35mA, +/-3mA, with adjustable bias control.
Stability:	Unconditional: 1KHz Square Wave

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

The product comprises:

A single, assembled high grade PCB, with all active and passive components, with four M3 5mm nylon threaded standoffs for mounting in a small aluminium enclosure (or within the turntable). The enclosure may be supplied for $AUD25 if desired.

Input and output coaxial cables of 15cms length are supplied, along with four gold plated RCAs for convenient termination.

The heavy 4AH 12V sealed lead acid (gelcell) battery is NOT supplied.
