LIFEFORCE 100
The Lifeforce 100 is a solid state, push-pull power amplifier
module available both to outright buyers and to existing builders of the
AKSA range. It delivers 100 watts RMS into an 8 ohm load and 180 watts
into a 4 ohm load. Input sensitivity for 100W output into 8R is 740mVrms
into 40K. The amplifier is based on the same topology as the Lifeforce
55 and has a gain of 30.3dB.
The Lifeforce module is the crowning result of three years of thorough
R&D, and was developed immediately after the LF55 was released. The
aim has been to produce a high end amplifier of unparalleled sonics, like
the LF55, but with greater power; and the results are nothing short of
stunning. Bass, midrange and top end are extraordinary, delivered with
tinkling clarity and warm, intimate engagement to challenge the cream
of the crop. This amplifier is electrically and sonically superlative,
with astonishing impact and slam, and amazing soundstage. The Lifeforce
uses extremely sophisticated circuit techniques, yet it is relatively
simple. The amplifier is extremely load tolerant and fast, driving electrostatic
speakers with ease, and extraordinarily stable.
The Lifeforce 100 pcb measures 125mm x 90mm (5" x 3
1/2") on a single-sided, solder-masked pcb which mounts directly
to a heatsink. The module is sold fully built and tested. The user need
only connect the two power rails, an earth, the two signal input wires,
and the Speaker output wire. Clear instructions with diagrams and photos
detail set-up, which is quite straight-forward and should take no more
than a few minutes. The Lifeforce can easily be installed by people with
limited electronics experience; you need only follow simple instructions
and possess some skill with a soldering iron.
The 100W module is suitable for nominal 4R or 8R loads with
impedance dips down to 2.5 ohms, and both bias and offset are factory
set. Once operational, it needs no further attention for many years. This
is one of the most outstanding modular amplifier designs in the hifi world
with stunning sonics.

The Lifeforce audio amplifier was developed to address the intrinsic sonic
problems of solid state, push pull Class AB technology. It incorporates
highly innovative thinking, driven by both the engineering and the subjective
sonic issues of music reproduction. With solid engineering principles
an integral part of the design, the development cycle has focused on the
audiophile listening experience, and the inspired aim to transfer human
emotion via the artform of music. The justification for this is
simple; people listen to music to be moved, not to marvel at the
elegance of the amplifier design.
While the subjectivist approach might be seen to downplay traditional
distortion measurements and technical considerations of linearity, the
Lifeforce has markedly reduced distortion over other, more conventional
designs. Global feedback is low at 26dB. Distortion measurements and slew
rates are outstanding, but there will always be concerns that an amplifier
which measures well may not always be musical. This strongly indicates
that there is more to this technology than first appears, with the latest
thinking highlighting the significance of distortion spectra and the concept
of monotonicity, a gradually decreasing distortion spectrum with increasing
harmonic order.
The Lifeforce 100 amplifier creates a presentation comparable to a very
powerful, high quality tube amplifier, whilst delivering stunning resolution,
a broad, deep and tall soundstage and a pure, extraordinarily engaging
musical sound. Like many tube amplifiers, the Lifeforce 100 is best
suited to quality speaker systems of 84dB/Watt/metre or higher.
The key features of the Lifeforce are the utter absence of intermodulation,
the startling transients, crystalline clarity, and palpable depth and
height of the soundstage. The midrange is forward and intimate,
promoting a full engagement with the music. The Lifeforce confers extraordinary
emotional communication to music, a feature regarded as unusual for a
solid-state amplifier, and a quality usually evident in only the best
tube amplifiers.
The designer, Hugh R. Dean, an Australian with an eclectic background
in military education, business computing and language training, stands
behind his product with unsurpassed 24/7 email backup.
The Lifeforce is available as fully built and tested modules and fully
built and tested power supply pcb, featuring UFSR diodes with premium
quality filter caps. For an extraordinarily resolving amplifier of great
power which takes you effortlessly into the recording, we commend you
to our fully built, tested Lifeforce 100W today!!
