PAYMENT OPTIONS

We offer you a variety of payment options. These are;

* payment by Bank Draft,
* payment by Faxing (Visa/Mastercard) credit card details to us in Australia, and
* payment by Transmitting your (Visa/Mastercard) credit card details in code over two or three emails.
* payment by PayPal - NOW AVAILABLE

Because of the international security implications, we choose not to allow direct credit to our account at this time.

Let us explain these methods further.

Bank Draft

Payment by bank draft is simple.  You simply go to your local bank, ask them to make out a bank draft in Australian dollars, and send it to us.  A cheque is not advisable unless you are sure your bank operates in Australia.  However, the fee for bank drafts can be high, and there are other, simpler ways to go about it.

Faxing

Payment by fax is routine.  Fax your order, including credit card details (card number, expiry date, card type, cardholder name as it appears on the card) to;

Aspen Amplifiers
Fax Number;
61 3 9458 4660

We will email you immediately to verify your order, but no sensitive credit information will be transmitted in this email, so your CC data is secure.

Using Two Emails and Code to Transmit your Card Number

There is a clever, veritably foolproof method of sending your credit card information across the net.  It is utterly indecipherable to any program or hacker unless they are permanently sitting undetected on your ports for long periods.  As a general rule, use of Zonelabs firewall makes this extremely difficult as your PC is then virtually invisible on the network.

The technique is based on the observation that hackers and credit card criminals use programs called packet sniffers which recognise strings of digits, not words, to harvest credit card details from the Internet.  Other programs (which will remain unnamed here!) are alerted by distinctive words and phrases, which we judiciously refrain from using in our email transmissions.

It works this way.  The credit card number is split into two equal sections of eight digits each, and is written using words, not digits, and placed at the end of text verse such as a nursery rhyme.  By sending the information in two separate emails, two packets of digital data are sent along completely different routes, arriving at the same destination, but foiling any attempt in transit to capture the complete number.
Let's encode the following card number (fictitious) 4325 0754 4365 0866 expires 04/02

EMAIL #1

Mary had a little lamb four three two five,
Its fleece was white as snow,
And everywhere that Mary went zero seven five four,
The lamb was sure to go.

EMAIL #2

Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet four three six five,
Eating her curds and whey,
Along came a spider zero eight six six,
And sat down beside her,
Zero four zero two.

As long as the numbers are placed at the end of the line and you use two separate emails, it is clear that this method offers excellent protection from hackers.  You should know that once your order is processed and paid for, we keep a hardcopy of your order in archive but all details of your valid credit card number on our computer are deleted.  Note:  Always remember to include the expiry date of the card, as this is vital information for validating the transaction.

We are indebted to Pat Currie of Madison, WI for suggesting this excellent idea!

PayPal

We are pleased to offer the use of the popular PayPal facility with effect August 2001.  We should warn you, however, that convenience costs.  In 2004 a rate change was notified by PayPal;   and this means that a 4% impost must be added to the total bill to partly offset amended merchant charges and heavy currency conversion costs across international borders.   As of March, these costs were met solely by the merchant.

When you have confirmed the exact payment (including P&P and insurance) by email with us, you must now change the Australian dollar prices into US dollars
We recommend you use the same link we use for a fast currency conversion service. The XE.com service is excellent, and up to the minute conversions are offered for almost every country.

If there are any problems with the conversion, we'll get back to you within a few hours by email.  Please bear in mind that many European and US time zones are 10-20 hours behind Australia and delays do occur, mostly because people sleep!  Please be patient - it is important to confirm the final cost and then add 4% BEFORE you deposit money with PayPal!!

We'll email you as a matter of course to confirm your precise order and costing, and again notify you of shipping details when the package is sent.  In this way we aim to foster your trust and win your repeat business by keeping you informed every step of the way.

As of 15th September 2004, one Australian dollar buys exactly 70 US cents and 57.17 Euro cents.  Because of the breadth of our market, we will continue to use the Oz dollar for all our pricing.
Once the US dollar cost is known, add 4% impost mentioned above. This covers the impost for international transactions. You are now ready to enter the PayPal website and fill in our account email address.

- aksa1@optushome.com.au
- the amount you wish to send, denominated in US dollars.

Our account name is
Aspen Amplifiers P/L (Hugh R. Dean).

You can pay with a credit card or checking account, but you do need to be registered with PayPal according to their requirements explained in full at their website. This takes only a few days to set up, but is worth the inconvenience.

As soon as you have sent money to us via Paypal, we receive an automatic email advice to that effect, notifying us of the funds transfer and your shipping address.  If the amount is correct, we then act immediately to ship your package, and notify you the hour it is despatched, including all shipping details, weight and insurance certificate.  If the amount is not correct, we immediately contact you. It's that painless, completely secure, and becoming increasingly popular, particularly in North America.

We hope these options help you to purchase our fine products, and thank you for your custom!
